VoLTE (Voice over LTE) is a voice service based on IP Multimedia Subsystem(IMS). It is an IP data transmission technology that does not require 2G/3G network and all services are carried on 4G network, which can realize the unification of data and voice services under the same network.
Voice over New Radio (VoNR) is the IP Multimedia System (IMS) based voice calling services based on 5G access, realizing both voice and data services carried on the 5G network.
The New Radio network communication is the 5G radio access technology and the advanced & updated form of 4G radio access technology.
ENUM-DNS translates traditional E.164 telephone numbers into DNS-based SIP URIs, enabling seamless IP-based call routing. It plays a vital role in number resolution and interoperability between VoIP, IMS, and traditional telephony, supporting global reachability and service continuity.
The S-CSCF is the central control element in the IMS core. It maintains user registration state, processes SIP signaling, triggers service logic based on user profiles, and communicates with Application Servers (AS). It acts as the brain of the IMS network, managing session control and multimedia service coordination.
The I-CSCF serves as the routing and querying component in the IMS core network. It operates at the network boundary, handling incoming SIP requests, routing them to the appropriate S-CSCF, and interfacing with the HSS to retrieve user profile data. It is essential for roaming support and network topology concealment.
The P-CSCF is the first point of contact between the IMS network and the user device. Acting as the SIP signaling entry point, it handles initial registration, ensures session initiation, enforces security policies, and interacts with QoS and policy control components. Positioned close to the user, it minimizes latency and enhances reliability and security.
